From 2023 to 2025, the association Lateinamerikanisches Fraueninitiative Neukölln (LAFI) organised and hosted Almanach: De Mano a Mano, a series of gatherings, workshops, and exchanges created by and for the Latin American FLINTA community in Berlin.
Throughout the project, I had the opportunity to witness its growth, its impact, and, above all, the importance of creating spaces of belonging for those of us who are often made to feel like we do not belong.
Inspired by the Almanaque Bristol, a widely circulated publication that has long offered practical and everyday knowledge across Latin America, we designed and distributed a new Almanach each semester. Bringing together shared memories, collective knowledge, and useful resources, the publication became both a tool and a meeting point for migrant women and members of the Latin American diaspora.
The project was directed by Laura Escallón and edited by Juana Anzellini, with contributions from numerous Latin American women and the support of the Berliner Senat.
